Avenues to Recovery is a free-standing, state-licensed, outpatient facility that provides substance abuse and addiction treatment for adolescents and adults. We believe that good treatment is a cooperative effort between patient and therapist. Understanding that not every individual is initially in a place to recognize the need for change, we work to meet patients where they are and very simply provide a new lens through which an individual can view the events of the past and present. This approach, which begins in individual therapy, is respectful of ambivalence and allows the patient to grow his/her own sense of internal motivation to make a change. We understand that personal ownership of recovery is vital in order to achieve lasting abstinence.

We believe that addiction is a disease: progressive, incurable and fatal. For those individuals who fully recognize the devastating effects of their addictions, and are ready to embrace change, our group services are poised to provide intensive support, education and healing. Our staff of masters level therapists strives not only to provide patients with the tools for abstinence, but the means to achieve lasting shifts in thinking and perception. Supplementary involvement in 12-step recovery is required during the course of treatment, as we understand that abstinence is the beginning rather than the end of the journey.

We at Avenues pride ourselves on providing expert assessment to ensure that each patient receives the appropriate level of care for his/her individual circumstance. Our facility views individuals with addictions in a holistic manner, understanding that true healing can only be achieved if approached from a mind, body, spirit perspective. We provide a safe, healing environment for patients to: abstain from substance use/abuse, identify the faulty beliefs and underlying feelings that fuel substance use and adopt new coping mechanisms to deal with the stresses of every day living. The families of our patients are also an integral part of this process, as addiction has a devastating effect on every individual it touches.
